This year as well, the Festival of 2Worlds meets the young students in Spoleto summoning them to rediscover the cultural identity connected to the creation and development of the Festival of Spoleto.

The Festival offers children and young people a number of initiatives: the project WE ARE THE FESTIVAL, courses in drama education, internships and promotions on the shows dedicated to young people. 

WE ARE THE FESTIVAL, now in its fifth edition, is aimed at pupils in the primary, middle and high schools of Spoleto.

The theme of this year’s project, The Discovery of Theater, is an invitation to seek, understand and reconstruct the history of the Festival across the various venues of the town where the event has taken place for over half a century. Spoleto, Theatrical Town par excellence, is endowed with stunning scenic spaces which seem to be created to house the event. 

The nineteenth century Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti and the evocative Teatro Romano are the theatrical workshops that will greet the students through a journey into the origins of these charming, historical venues to understand and see close up how to structure a building of this dimension, where the proscenium is, the function of the backdrop, what a trellis is. 

These activities will be primarily recreational. In fact, the presentation will be like a game so as to develop the children’s competence of perception, imagination and creativity helping them to communicate and express themselves.

The young visitors will be accompanied to discover the beauty of the theaters by the high school students of the art and language courses who will animate the tour with graphic images, scenery built for the occasion and a short theatrical performance.

On the basis of their experience, individual or group work will follow in the classrooms with the help and coordination of the teachers, producing all kinds and forms of art: written compositions, graphic, audio-visual and digital projects.

The awarding ceremony of the projects will be held on Thursday, July 9th at the Teatro Romano at 9 p.m. during the show DANS LES PAS DE NOUREEV.

All students and teachers participating in We are the Festival will be invited to attend the ceremony and the performance.

All tickets must be booked specifying the exact number of students participating no later than May 29, 2015 to the e-mail address promozione@festivaldispoleto.com.

Each teacher will also be responsible for picking up and distributing the tickets to the students.
