theatrical action realized by Letizia Quintavalla, Alessandro Nidi directed by Letizia Quintavalla music by Alessandro Nidi assistants Beatrice Baruffini, Agnese Scotti production Il Teatro delle Briciole Solares Fondazione delle Arti in collaboration with Spoleto 51 Festival of the Two Worlds | The Teatro delle Briciole opened a collaboration with two classes of the primary school Le Corone Tempo Pieno di Spoleto - II circolo didattico and their teachers. This first rendezvous is dedicated to the theme of passion: why and how does theatre become a passion? What aspect of human nature binds with its pretence and changes? During the Scuola d’Arte dell’Ascolto (the School of the Art of Listening, a biennial dance-theater project for children and teachers that the Teatro delle Briciole realized in 2002-2003) this is how the children defined the passion that was born in them from theatre, "We were infected by theatre, the disease of passion… Theatre is like an infective illness, it contaminates whomever dresses up for it. If your dress in disguise only once, you´re lost forever. You become yourself and the contrary. You´re an innocent person in jail. A bad person becomes good. It´s a very rare disease but very infective: theatre is like cement, it’s like a powerful rain, like a dark night…" And what is this pleasure of disguise, of camouflage, of becoming a character, of creating fantasy lives parallel to ours based on? On this occasion we want to present their experience synthesized in a small Theatre Manifesto. Inspired by Shakespeare´s oxymora, writing is the core of the work: the opposites that attract each other to give life, thanks to their sum, to new concepts – apparently impossible alliances that perhaps for this reason generate unexpected and free images. Theatrical improvisation accompanied by live music will allow the children to experiment a sort of pantomime and a "clownesque" corporeity and as we know, the mystery of theatre lies between the Gods and the Clowns. Furthermore, this project is an opportunity to meet, learn more about each other, and represent ourselves, before representing fantasy stories. |
