The Competition "European Community" for Young Opera Singers is one of the most important international competitions. The winners are eligible for a two-year Training Course for Debut before being engaged in the Experimental Opera Season of Spoleto and Umbria.
In the past the Spoleto Competition had been won by many of the most famous opera singers and stars on the international scene, including: Cesare Valletti, Franco Corelli, Antonietta Stella, Ettore Bastianini, Giangiacomo Guelfi, Anita Cerquetti, Renato Bruson, Ruggero Raimondi, Leo Nucci, Marcella Pobbe, Mariella Devia, Giuseppe Sabbatini, Luciana D’Intino, Lucia Aliberti, Norma Fantini, Sonia Ganassi, Daniela Barcellona, Cinzia Forte, Marina Comparato, Micaela Carosi, Nicola Ulivieri, Fabio Maria Capitanucci, Roberto De Candia and, in the last few years, Andrea Carè, Simone Piazzola, Maria Agresta and Veronica Simeoni.
The artists who will perform in the concert Oh de’ verd’anni miei, accompanied by Maestro Francesco Massimi and Maestra Yuna Saito on the piano, are the winners of the 2014 European Singing Competition of Spoleto, whose jury was chaired by the famous American soprano June Anderson and composed of: Suat Arikan (Superintendent and Artistic Director of the Opera House in Istanbul-Turkey), Mats Liljefors (Artistic Director of the Royal Festivals at the Royal Palace of Stockholm-Sweden and principal conductor of the Hermitage Museum Orchestra), Besim Petrela (Artistic Counselor of the Opera House of Tirana-Albania and Artistic Director of the Apolonia Fest), Wolfgang Schreiber (music critic for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and collaborator of Deutschlandradio Kultur-Germany) and Michelangelo Zurletti (Artistic Director of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto).
Among the principal teachers of the 2014Training Course for Debut we recall the baritone Renato Bruson, Mrs. Enza Ferrari and the directors Giorgio Bongiovanni, Sandra De Falco and Marco Martinelli.
The concert will be presented by Andrea Penna, one of the voices of Rai Radio3 Suite, who is well-acquainted with the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto for having been a press agent here a few years ago.
