| Montblanc Prize FESTIVAL DI SPOLETO. PROTAGONISTS OF CHANGE A prize to honour outstanding personalities who with their works and thoughts sustain the advancement of civilization. Montblanc partecipates as a partner in the next edition of the Festival dei 2Mondi di Spoleto, thus renewing its support to culture and art in all its forms. Within such a display of excellencies, the Maison confers this prize to the Artistic Director of the Festival, Giorgio Ferrara. Montblanc awards Ferrara for his commitment to restoring this Festival to a landmark of the international art scene. His artistic management has allowed the continuance and renewal of this extraordinary cultural legacy founded by Gian Carlo Menotti, the first winner, in 1995, of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award, a prize assigned by the House to modern patrons since 1992. Montblanc will donate the fountain pen symbol of the diffusion and conservation of culture to Giorgio Ferrara: the Patron of Art Mecenate. | Since 1992, Montblanc has paid tribute to the most important patrons in history, conspicuous in their passion for art and culture, with its collection of writing instruments Patron of Art. This year, to mark its twentieth anniversary, Montblanc is honouring the man who gave life to the actual concept of patronage: Gaio Cilnio Maecenas. The design of this limited edition is inspired by the life and period of this great charismatic figure. The barrel of the pen in marbled lacquer recreates the columns of the Roman temples; the first verses of the Ode to Maecenas composed by Horace are inscribed on the pen cap; laurel wreaths and the name of the great Roman patron are engraved on the silver trim. The unique style of the pen is completed with a clip in the shape of a Roman sword and the base of the cone reproduces an ancient Roman coin which depicts his portrait. The 18K gold pen nib is engraved with the numbers MMXI year of the twentieth anniversary of the writing instruments collection Patron of Art. |
