fable set to music for voice actor, images and symphony orchestra text by Laura Muscarà original music by Gabriele Bonolis voice actor Tiziana Foschi concept designer Fabio Contini graphic designer Francesca Marinelli graphic Francesca De Bassa Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi conductor Gabriele Bonolis The Great Sun King has ceased rising and shining in the high sky; the Earth is left on its own and as a result, everything is suffering. After having brightened the lives of others for thousands of years, the Great King has been hit by a collapse of energy and only long therapy and rest, as prescribed by a specialist who has come from the East, will be able to cure it. But far from the desired effect, the passage of time makes the Sun King increasingly capricious and despotic, determined to establish a regime of strict sadness in the realm and banning anything that might even suggest the idea of celebration and joy. Until the day when a passionate plea, sent by a mysterious admirer, seems to finally awaken the king from that torpor, nourishing the hope of having found a new and more profound reason for living. | Tickets: adults €10 under13 €6
In order to discover the identity of Rising Light - author of the message - the Sun King first turns to Aurora Boreale, his old nurse, than he appeals to the collaboration of all the planets, which he has gathered in a large extraordinary general meeting. Mercury, his younger brother, will unravel the mystery: Rising Light is none other than the Queen of the Night, who in the darkness travels across the vault of heaven with her silver chariot. Therefore, the cunning Mercury shows the King the place and right time for an encounter.
Finally the Sun King meets Rising Light, realizing that he is her Principle of Life. But because of this relationship that binds them, the Sun and the Moon will not be able to express their feelings except from a distance, in accordance with the laws of the Universe and the duties that the celestial bodies have towards the creation. It is up to the Moon to regulate the marine life cycles, and to the Sun to regulate those of the land. The two lovers will be able to meet only once a year during the summer solstice, being content to brush against each other in the fading of the sunset. The Great Sun King, to the delight of his subjects, resumes shining vigorously and brings life and prosperity back to the Earth. |
