Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi Conductor Gaetano d′Espinosa The symphony concert of the Verdi Orchestra, conceived in the wake of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy, presents pages which have been inspired in various ways by our country: we start with a brilliant exercise in style of the ingenious Franz Schubert with 2 Overtures in "Italian Style" D. 592 and 597; we continue, listening to an Italian premiere, with the "Little Italian overture" by Giorgio Battistelli, one of the best-known contemporary Italian composers worldwide. A Liszt page, perhaps not practiced much but with great depth, the poem "Tasso, lament and triumph" dedicated to the great poet of the "Jerusalem" and the "Aminta", concludes the first half. The famous Symphony No. 4 "Italian" by Felix Mendelssohn - Bartholdy, rich in melodic folk styles of the peninsula, in the second half will engage the young team of the Milan Symphony in audacious virtuoso executions.
