ACCADEMIA PERDUTA/ROMAGNA TEATRI Teatro Stabile d′Arte Contemporanea Pollicino - Hop-o′-My-Thumb by Marcello Chiarenza with Claudio Casadio and Beppe Turletti on the accordion directed by Gianni Bissaca stage settings Marcello Chiarenza music composition Beppe Turletti sound and lights Giovanni Perinelli and Vincenzo Lullo Hop-o´-My-Thumb offers a young audience the chance to understand the feeling of fear. The story of Hop-o´-My-Thumb is a "dark fable": "How can you guys sleep? It might be fear, but I can′t manage to sleep " says Hop-o´-My-Thumb, to his elder brothers. Even if the main character is small, maybe the smallest, the great fear that he faces doesn′t overwhelm him. On the contrary, his curiosity and his courageous desire to understand reality, even in its most cruel aspects, helps him overcome the adversities that life places on his path. It is the same curiosity that drives Hop-o´-My-Thumb to keep an eye on what his parents say and do. Thanks to this, he is able to sense the approaching dangers and to prepare himself to deal with them. On the journey through the woods from his father′s to the Ogre′s house, Hop-o´-My-Thumb begins to discover the world around him, which will eventually lead him to other homes and forests, never to return home again. But he is not lost. Hop-o´-My-Thumb and his brothers are just on an a adventurous trip called life. | |
