The 52nd Festival of the Two Worlds of Spoleto opens with the European Première of Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi directed by Woody Allen at his opera directing debut.

“I have no idea of what I’m doing but incompetence never prevented me from jumping into things with enthusiasm.” (W. Allen).

The Symphonic Orchestra “Giuseppe Verdi” of Milan is conducted by James Conlon. The role of Gianni Schicchi is played by Sir Thomas Allen; staging and costumes by Santo Loquasto.
